The 2017 SSV State Swimming Championships once again has Maribyrnong College at the top of the State Schools in Victoria after winning Back to Back Champion School Titles.
Maribyrnong College scored 328 from the event held at MSAC some 98 points more than the closest school being Lavalla College on 230 points, with Viewbank Secondary College in 3rd place on 202.
It was a great all-round performance from our swimmers lead by Johann Stickland who claimed two gold medals in the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke. Individual gold medals were also won by Caitlin Huell in the 50m Butterfly, Stone Ma in the 50m Freestyle and Kyle Rodger in the 100m Backstroke.
The School was also successful in the Relay events winning the following events

In total Maribyrnong College won 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 6 Bronze
Our students also competed in the 2017 Georgia Hope Foundation Age Nationals where all students bettered their personal best times in their different events. An amazing achievement.
While Charles Lockley was our only medallist winning silver in the 12-13 100m Breaststroke and Bronze in the 12-13 200m Breaststroke, the team consisting of Charles, Johann Stickland, Stone Ma, Ella MacDonagh, Caitlin Huell, Dan Americo, Kyle Rodger, Grace Honan and former students Tarnee Dixon and Vic Lockley represented the school with pride and gained valuable experience on the National stage.
We also congratulate former student Lushavel Stickland on her performances in the Hancock Prospecting Australian Championships.
