  • To develop young people who can balance sporting and academic performance

Training Program

The program aims to develop skills within an integrated learning environment. The athletes are divided into three groups, determined by both age and skill level. These groups are designed to have the athletes training and competing against other athletes of similar skill level. The 'Development' group consists of the athletes in Yrs 7 and 8, and is largely focussed on developing the basic skills of hitting, pushing, trapping and dribbling. The 'Development Plus' group consists of those athletes that have progressed from the development group but still needing to continue to refine their basic skill level while learning the more complex skill sets. The 'Senior' group consists of the older and more advanced skilled athletes, and focuses on the learning and development of more complex skills, and decision making during mini games.  One training session a week is dedicated to the 'playing games for understanding approach' for the entire academy group.
