Golf Academy Program

Program Overview

The Maribyrnong Sports Academy (MSA) Golf Program is a specialised high-performance golf development program designed for talented young golfers seeking to maximise their potential while balancing the demands of both sport and education. As a select-entry program, MSA provides student-athletes with a unique opportunity to pursue their golfing ambitions within an athlete-friendly environment that supports both academic achievement and sporting excellence.

Students enrolled in the Golf Program participate in a comprehensive Years 7–12 academic curriculum while also engaging in a structured Technical Golf Program and High Performance Preparation Program. This integrated approach allows aspiring golfers to continue their education while receiving the coaching, support, and training opportunities required to compete at elite junior, state, national, and international levels.

A key feature of the MSA Golf Program is its partnership with the renowned Medway Golf Club, where student-athletes participate in two technical coaching sessions each week. These sessions are designed to develop every aspect of a golfer's performance, including swing mechanics, short game skills, course management, putting, physical preparation, and mental performance.

The program is built around modern coaching principles and utilises industry-leading technology to provide detailed performance analysis and individualised athlete development. Student-athletes have access to TrackMan technology, which uses radar tracking to measure clubhead and ball data, enabling coaches to provide precise feedback and identify areas for improvement. Advanced 3D Biomechanics Analysis helps athletes better understand movement patterns and optimise their golf swing for greater consistency and efficiency.

Additional technology includes the SAM PuttLab system for putting stroke analysis, AimPoint green-reading education, and K-Vest body tracking technology, which measures body movement throughout the swing. Athletes also benefit from Skillest video analysis software, allowing coaches and players to review performance and track development over time. Mirror Vision live-screen technology further enhances skill acquisition by providing immediate visual feedback during training sessions.

To support long-term development, athletes utilise ShotsToHole performance tracking software to monitor statistics, analyse strengths and weaknesses, set goals, and create targeted practice plans. This data-driven approach helps student-athletes develop accountability and a deeper understanding of their performance.

The MSA Golf Program aims to develop skilled, knowledgeable, and resilient golfers who are prepared for future opportunities within the sport. Through expert coaching, cutting-edge technology, and a strong commitment to academic success, MSA provides an outstanding environment for aspiring golfers to thrive both on and off the course.
