Nick Ferrier

I am a registered psychologist with a specific interest in sport and performance. My background is in elite level swimming having competed internationally. Over my professional career, I have been a business owner in health and fitness and worked as a psychologist in occupational rehabilitation settings and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) for the Australian Government and the private sector.

My previous and current service delivery includes working in AFL, swimming, athletics, horse racing, rowing, water polo, and many other sports. I’m also an external referral source, for some of Melbourne’s most prestigious private high schools and colleges.

I operate using a solutions-focused model, assisting individuals and groups to find out what they’re capable of. I predominantly use a cognitive-behavioural and strengths-based approach to assist students. With a strong scientific background, I utilise my knowledge of neuroscience to support students in understanding how their brains work and what they can do to maximise all aspects of human nature and development.

During a session, you should expect a relaxed, inviting space to discuss whatever is on your mind. At your first session, I explain that we (both of us) only speak the truth in what is a judgement-free zone, and there is no topic or subject off limits. I really enjoy open and honest conversations and expect students to learn, grow, develop, and to feel confident in articulating what they need to.
