There have been some amazing performances for current and past students in both National and International competition over the past week. Let go through those achievements.
Taekwondo
On the 4th of June, Australian Taekwondo held the National Team Selections for the World Championships. We had 12 MSA students compete with 4 of them winning Gold and making the Australian National Team. These 4 students will now travel to Bulgaria at the start of August to compete in the Junior World Championships.
All of the other MSA students performed well with 5 of them only losing in the final, 2 against other MSA students.

Coach Ryan Carnelli is currently in Korea as he was selected as an assistant coach to Australia’s National Coach to bring over a senior team to train with the Korean National Team and also compete at the Korean Open. Another MSA coach Leon Sejranovic is part of the team that will be completing during this Korean Tour while Olympian Reba Stewart was also selected but could not attend due to injury. Ryan will join the MSA students as a team coach for Junior Korean Open.
Athletics
Celeste Mucci has taken victory in the Oceania Championships women’s 100m hurdles in the very impressive time of 12.75 (Wind Assisted) run at the McKay aquatic and recreation complex in Far North Queensland. It is only the 3rd time Celeste has run a sub 13 second run. She told Athletics Australia she is pretty happy with her form this year, “I just honestly wanted to get the win today so the time on top of that was great. The Oceania Championships are so important for ranking, especially as we get closer to the World Championships and Commonwealth Games. Running today was definitely a must and I’m really happy with the way I executed it.”
