Associate Sports

Program Overview

The Associate Sports Program is dedicated to supporting individual athletes competing in sports beyond our fourteen MSA programs. The aim is to provide tailored High Performance Physical training experiences and athlete services including:

  • Performance Psychology

  • Sport Nutrition

  • Wellbeing

  • Rehabilitation

This assists athletes in achieving state and national representation. We focus on the overall growth of student-athletes, supporting their academic journey, physical, and emotional needs.

Coaching is provided externally by athletes’ existing coaches, whether they are from private, club, state, or national levels. We encourage all coaches to collaborate to meet the unique developmental needs of each student-athlete.

In 2025, MSA undertook a review of the sports from which we accept Associate Athlete applications. This review was prompted by a significant increase in overall interest, as well as a growing diversity of sports. As part of this process, MSA sought to clearly define the sports eligible for application.

Following this review, it was determined that from the beginning of 2026, MSA would align with the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) High Performance Funding framework. As a result, applications are now limited to sports that are recognised within this framework.

MSA Associate Sports

MSA currently accepts associate sport applications for athletes competing in sports that receive Australian Sports Commission high performance funding.
