Netball Academy Program

Program overview

The Maribyrnong Sports Academy (MSA) Netball Program is a specialised high-performance development program designed to support talented young netballer’s as they progress through Victorian, Australian, and international netball pathways. The program provides student-athletes with access to elite coaching, structured athlete development, and an environment that promotes both sporting excellence and academic achievement.

The primary aim of the MSA Netball Program is to develop a training framework that assists aspiring netball athletes in achieving their highest potential. The program supports players pursuing opportunities within Victorian representative teams, national age-group programs, and future professional pathways, including selection into elite netball competitions and franchises. Through a combination of technical development, tactical education, physical preparation, and personal growth, athletes are provided with the tools required to succeed at the highest levels of the sport.

At MSA, student-athletes benefit from best-practice coaching delivered by experienced staff who understand the demands of modern netball. Coaches work closely with athletes to refine core skills such as passing, catching, shooting, movement, footwork, defensive techniques, court positioning, and decision-making under pressure. Training sessions are designed to challenge athletes while fostering confidence, resilience, leadership, and teamwork.

A key feature of the program is its commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment. Student-athletes are encouraged to pursue excellence while developing positive habits, strong values, and a growth mindset. Coaches focus not only on improving athletic performance but also on helping young people develop the discipline and responsibility required for success in all aspects of life.

The MSA Netball Program delivers dynamic and engaging training sessions that reflect the demands of contemporary netball. Athletes are exposed to game-based learning, skill development activities, match simulation, tactical analysis, and performance education. This approach ensures players develop a comprehensive understanding of the game while enhancing their ability to perform in competitive environments.

Beyond athletic development, the program places a strong emphasis on helping student-athletes successfully balance their sporting and academic commitments. MSA recognises that long-term success is achieved through a holistic approach that values education, wellbeing, and personal development alongside sporting achievement.

Through expert coaching, high-performance training, and a commitment to developing outstanding young people, the MSA Netball Program provides an exceptional pathway for aspiring netballers to pursue state, national, and international opportunities while thriving in the classroom and on the court.
