MSA Performances WE 27/2/2022

It was another big weekend for MSA’s Alumni right around this big country of ours, in fact right around the world.

In Abu Dubai, Lucas Plapp had his debut race for professional cycling team Ineos Grenadiers. He finished in 12th place overall and also claimed 5th in the Queen stage at the 7 day World Tour event.

The Victorian State Athletics Championships saw MSA well represented by past and current students.  Two of our Alumni won gold in their events including Jessie Andrew who is now the State Champion in the Women’s 200m final in a time of 24.38.  Abigail Thomas won the U20 Women’s 3000m

In Golf, Stephine Bunque lost her semi-final match at the Athena Classic to the lady who went on to win the tournament.

AFLW

Libby Birch collected 10 disposals in another solid defensive effort to help the Bulldogs take a 10 point win over North Melbourne who had former MSA athlete Amy Smith on the team.  A solid game for Alicia Newman for the Pies in their victory over the Bulldogs by 25 points.  For the Bulldogs Jess Fitzgerald kicked a goal and laid 5 tackles.  Geelong beat the Tigers by 23 points and Monique Conti had another solid day for Richmond collecting 23 disposals and 7 tackles, while Elle McKenzie had a quiet day by her standards with 6 disposals.….Georgie Prespakis had 6 disposals for the cats

A-League Women

Polly Doran and Melindaj Barbieri played in the Melbourne Victory loss to Adelaide 3-0

A-League Men

Dillan Murnane played for Newcastle Jets in their 2 all draw against Macarthur FC

Connor Metcalfe played well in Melbourne City’s 2-1 win over Sydney FC

 

And in Basketball Zac Triplet played for Melbourne United in their 89-73 win over Cairns
