YEAR 7 APPLICATIONS

MSA offers 75 student-athlete scholarships for entry in Year 7.

The application process for Year 7 commences 12 months prior to the proposed year of entry when students are in Grade 6.

Applications for entry into Year 7, 2026 are now open until Friday 28th March.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1. APPLY ONLINE

Before completing an online application, you will be required to have the following information on hand:

  • A Head Shot Photo

  • Current Primary School Details

  • Sport Details (Including Coach Contact Details and Achievements)

  • Grade 5 Semester 1 and 2 Reports

  • NAPLAN Report

  • Credit card details to pay the $100 application fee.

Your application is only finalised once you have submitted your payment. Application fee is non-refundable.

Important Note: After submitting your application an email confirmation will be received from notifications@fillout.com. Information regarding selection trials will be sent from MSA Pathways Manager, kate.green@education.vic.gov.au. Please check your junk E-mail folders and add these email address to your safe senders list.

Step 2. SELECTION PROCESS

The select-entry process is based on potential for development in high performance sport, existing talent and academic results, including classroom effort, behaviour and attendance.

Sport Potential and Performance

All Year 7 applicants are invited to take part in selection trials as part of the talent identification process. Sport selection is based on a review of sport details provided in the application and selection trials which include;

  • Physical Testing - Including general power, speed (running) and anthropometric testing

  • Sports Specific Training and Drills

** The selection trial period will be held from Monday 5th May - Friday 23rd May. Applicants will be contacted via the email at the start of Term 2 with specific trial dates, times and locations for your sport and physical testing day information.

Academic Results

A review of academic results (including effort, behaviour and attendance) based on school reports and further investigation by contacting your current school as required.

The below academic criterion is used as a guideline for selection:

  • Achieving a B grade (very good) academic average.

  • Academic effort and behavioural indicators are high.

  • School attendance levels (90%+)

Step 3. OFFERS MADE

Applicants are notified via email of the outcome of their application before the end of Term 2.

As part of a targeted focus on developing performance pathways for para-athletes, with support from Paralympics Australia, MSA welcomes applications from students with an eligible impairment for para-sport.
