SELECTION PROCESS
Selection is based not only on current performance, but also on demonstrated potential for development in high-performance sport, as well as suitability for balancing sporting and academic commitments, effort, and behaviour.
Entry into Year 9 is highly competitive and, in general, most successful applicants are competing at junior state or national level (or an equivalent standard).
Selection for in-person trials is determined through a review of the sporting information and achievements provided in the online application, by the MSA Selection team. Applications are assessed across all sports in consideration of the available number of places.
Applicants who progress to the next stage will be assessed based on:
Performance testing including general power, speed (running) and anthropometric testing.
Sport Specific Training and Drills.
Academic Review (academic criteria below).
ACADEMIC CRITERIA
School reports and NAPLAN results are reviewed to determine whether applicants meet the following guidelines. These criteria are used as a reference point, and exceptional circumstances will be considered.

High academic effort (no comments indicating poor or unsatisfactory effort).
Behavioural indicators rated very good or above.
