MSA Research Centre Mission Statement
The MSA Research Centre aims to provide evidence-based, innovative solutions to youth athlete development via high quality research. The centre would be the first of its kind in an Australian High School Sport Academy and is committed to produce practical and applied research outcomes, which can be translated into the holistic training environment.
The overall aim of the centre is to optimise current and future athlete success. The overarching goal is to foster youth athlete development to ensure they can become the best individual they can be, from both a personal sporting perspective and life-long engagement in physical activity.
The strength of our research program is the multiple disciplines related to youth athlete development; including and not excusive to, physical preparation; sport specific skill development; the coaching environment; exercise prescription; injury prevention; rehabilitation; mental well-being; nutritional education; and academic performance.
The broader goal of the centre is to be recognised as a leader in youth training, development, and research, by publishing high-quality research that will inform and influence the work of other researchers, practitioners and professionals working in youth athlete development.
Objectives of the Centre
· To undertake multidisciplinary, collaborative research that provides evidence-based solutions to youth athlete development questions, with the aim of improving current practice to enhance current and future athlete performance.
· To undertake collaborative research projects with local, national, and international partners.
· To understand the youth athlete from a holistic perspective, including physical, technical, psychological, coaching, injury rehabilitation, exercise prescription, and academic performance.
· To translate and integrate scientific research and support, to create a learning environment for athletes and coaches to ensure the MSA high performance sport program are at the forefront of innovation.
