On the Field - Week Ending 12/12/21

A-League Women

 Once again Annabelle Martin made a late entry to the field of player coming into the game at the 80th minute for the Wellington Phoenix in their 5-1 loss to Newcastle. MelindaJ Barbieri and Polly Doran both started for the Melbourne Victory and helped their team to a 2 -1 win over crosstown rival Melbourne City.  Naomi Thomas Chinnama came into the came for City in the 72nd minute.

 

A-League Men

Connor Metcalfe started for Melbourne City and helped his team to a 1-0 over Perth Glory at AAMI Stadium.  Matthew Bozinovski found himself stuck on the bench for Wellington Phoenix as they dropped another game this time to Dylan Murnane’s Newcastle Jets.  Dylan scoring a goal in the 68th minute making his former MSA coach and now Jets Manager Arthur Pappas a happy man.

 

Basketball

 Zac Triplett played a couple of minutes of the NBL game between Melbourne United and Sth East Melbourne Phoenix.  The game saw United come back from 19 points down and take the game into double OT before losing by 8.

 

Badminton

Gronya Somerville made the trip to Southern Spain with her mixed doubles partner Simon Leung to play in the 2021 Huelva Badminton World Championships.  Due to an Ankle injury to Simon the pair didn’t go as deep into the tournament as they would have liked.

 

American Football

Adam Korsak was named in the Football Writers Association of America All American second team.  He also received the same placement on the Walter Camp All-America team.
