MSA Performances WE 20/2/22

There were plenty of former and current MSA students playing at the top level of their sport over the weekend.  Let’s have a look at how some of them went.

A-League Women  

Polly Doran and Melindaj Barbieri played for the Melbourne Victory in their 2-0 loss to the Perth Glory

A-League Men

Connor Metcalfe came on in the 67th minute and helped Melbourne City defeat Dylan Murnane’s Newcastle Jets 3-0.  Former MSA head Coach Arthur Papas is the coach of the Newcastle Jets.

Birkan Kirdar came onto the park just before the half time whistle to help the Melbourne Victory to a 1-0 win over the Central Coast Mariners

AFLW

Jess Fitzgerald had 12 disposals and 7 tackles in the Bulldogs win over Georgie Prespakis’ Cats.  The Western Bulldogs winning 3-10-28 to 2-4-16 at the Whitten Oval.

Monique Conti stared in Richmond 2nd win of the season along with teammate Elle McKenzie.  Monique had 24 disposals and 9 tackles to help the Tigers to a 23 point win over the West Coast Eagles.

Meanwhile Amy Smith had 13 touches and 7 tackles in North Melbourne’s win over Collingwood by 23 points.  Alisha Newman played for the Pies.

Libby Birch plays for Melbourne tonight against Brisbane at the Gabba.

Golf

Stephine Banque missed the cut at the TPS Murray River Tournament.  She finished 1 over after her first 2 rounds.

Cycling

Lucas Plapp in appearing in his UAE World tour event in Dubai.  Plappy was 19 seconds off the leader after the first round riding for professional team Ineos Grenadiers

Tennis

Current Student Bridget Mihulkais playing in an open Tournament in Singapore

Athletics

Celeste Mucci is back on the track winning the NSW State Championships over the weekend in the 100m Hurdles.  Celeste’s time of 12.99 is the fastest in the world at the moment..
